The tensor fasciae latae is located on the front, outside of the tight. This muscles lies between two layers of the fascia late, a layer of deep fascia that is made of dense connective tissue that encircles the entire thigh. The belly of the tensor faciae latae lies between the gluteus maximus and sartorial muscles.
Origin- Iliac Crest and Anterior Superior Iliac Spine (ASIS)
Insertion- Lateral condyle of tibia by way of the iliotibial tract
Action- Flexes and abducts thigh at hip joint; helps lock knee in extension
Innervation- Superior gluteal nerve
Blood Supply-Stems from the ascending branch of the lateral circumflex femoral artery
